Completed in the 16th Century on the orders of King Henry VIII, the now ruined, but carefully preserved castle is considered one of the most substantial surviving examples of 16th Century blockhouses in England. Perched on the edge of the cliff above Sandsfoot Beach, the castle and gardens boast stunning views across the sea towards Portland, and are well worth a visit.
