As from 1st April 2016 all tenants residing in a property with an F or G energy efficient rating will have the right to request improvements to bring their property up to a minimum E rating. Landlords cannot unreasonably refuse the request to carry out such work.
The new regulations also states that as from 1st April 2018, all Landlords will be required to have an EPC certificate with a minimum rating of E for all tenancies commencing on or after this date. Furthermore, from 1st April 2020 all tenancies, new and existing will also need to comply.
